Burglary and Housebreaking

This policy can be taken by any business organisation/establishment whose property is exposed to risk of burglary; one who is liable for goods in trust/commission; one who is liable to make good damage to premises

The Policy covers the property against loss/damage by Burglary/House breaking.

The policy covers

  1. Property contained in a business premises owned by the Insured like stocks, furniture etc
  2. Stocks held in trust/commission and for which the Insured is responsible if specifically insured
  3. Damage to premises by burglars (which one has to make good)
  4. Cash, valuables, securities kept in a locked safe or cash box in locked steel cupboard if specifically covered
The Policy does not cover
  1. Jewellery, curios, title deeds, business books unless specifically insured
  2. Loss due to shop lifting, acts involving insured/his family members/employee
  3. Loss recoverable under Fire/Plate glass insurance policy
  4. War perils, Riot & Strike ( covered by payment of additional premium), Acts of God, Nuclear perils
  5. Loss by abstraction from a safe using a key or duplicate key, unless key is obtained by violence or threat
The policy provides for following extensions
  1. Coverage on First Loss basis
  2. Coverage on Declaration basis
  3. Coverage on Floater basis
  4. Riot, Strike, Malicious Damage, and Terrorism
  5. Theft.

Basis of sum insured may be Market Value.
